I wanted to thank you for taking me on the Fam Trip, I am just sad it’s all over!
The ability to not only explore highlights such as Hammerheads in Bimini and Night Dives at Stuart Coves, but to also visit place further afield such as Andros, and Grand Bahama Island (two locations of which we don’t feature heavily at present) was crucial. The itinerary meant that we could visit locations that we would not normally get the chance to, and thus can pass this on to our customers. I am trying to push Andros here at work after an awesome two days there, it’s a great location for diving and relaxation that was previously something we didn’t steer towards on first contact with clients. Our ‘Schools Worldwide’ department is also looking into conservation projects here and we’ve been in touch with Small Hope Bay to potentially be able to offer it to school groups. Similarly, the Bimini hammerhead experience was always shrouded in a bit of confusion as to how it all worked and now one of us has been there I can relay this on as well.
The ‘people to people’ evening organised by yourself and the BTO was a great addition. I was pleased to meet a member of the community and happy to hear him retell stories over a traditional meal. I will definitely be suggesting this in the future as it makes the trip a bit more unique and also offers the chance to experience some local culture, and in our case, some lovely cuisine!
I’ve already booked two different clients to head on over early next year, I am sure they will enjoy it as much as I did!
My next job here is to present everything I’ve learnt to the rest of DIVE. Personally, I think we need to promote Outer Islands diving, for me that was what I most enjoyed about my stay in the Bahamas.

To win a visit to The Bahamas thanks to a fun e-learning course, that’s great!
In the beginning of June 2018 I saw four of the 16 main Bahamas islands with my own eyes and I can confirm that not only Paradise Island is paradise. The turquoise blue sea is truly breathtaking, the people are friendly and the Bahama Mama’s taste great in the sun! Even in non luxuries hotels you feel like a VIP.
The flight with British Airways via London was fine. From Miami it is only an hour of flying, so also nice as a short stop after a tour of Florida.
We started our journey on Paradise Island at the Atlantis Paradise Island. This complex is similar to the huge hotels in Las Vegas and offers a dolphin pool, a complete water park, a golf course and a huge casino, but also the largest open-air aquarium in the world and 29 restaurants. Here we had a nice moment of peace and I could be lazy on the almost half kilometer long lazy river.
The Bahamas has many different types of accommodations and wedding venues, bungalows with direct access to the beach, converted mansions and beautiful villas with private infinity pools and butler service. Especially meant for the Rich and Famous. You can also come across Beyoncé, Johnny Depp or Cindy Crawford. (unfortunately, we have not seen them, at least … not recognized!)
My own preference was the Compass Point Resort with its colorful houses, nice sports bar and relaxed atmosphere. This really gave me the Bahama Vibe!
